Does employee wellness still matter in 2026?
Employer spending on corporate wellness is a strong financial investment. 25-30% of medical costs per year are spent on employees with major risk factors such as obesity, smoking, and diabetes. The losses add up, impacting not only your bottom line but also employee productivity and retention. A Harvard University study found that for every $1 invested, companies save an average of $3.27 on medical costs and $2.73 on absenteeism costs. That is a return of $6 for every $1 spent. About 87% of employees stated that they considered wellness offerings when choosing their employer. Employees who participate in wellness programs are 62% more likely to be loyal to their employers. Lunch and Learns, ongoing group or one to one coaching, and weekly wellness classes are a great way to enrich your employee experience.
